According to Carolyn's article in our current Curtain Call, Theatre In The Woods has beat the odds on longevity by four times. That's right, if we were an average community theatre start-up, we would have ceased to exist fifteen years ago! But for some reason we're (like the proverbial battery-operated bunny) still going. So what keeps us charged up? What memories stand out as you look back on your time with TITW? As an audience members, actors, set builders, house volunteers, and more we all have stories to share that make up our remarkable 20 years of community theatre here in Washburn County. Lets share our stories here.

As Bonnie in Elliot Hayes' Homeward Bound, I was under the direction of Madame Barnes-Haesemeyer, who in typical style, pulled that production together even though her husband Dr Allan Haesemeyer was stricken with a life-threatening cancer. The story involves a terminally ill man who brings his family together to try to tell them of his illness, but is completely upstaged by the family dramas of his adult children. All of us in the production experienced the object lesson of the way both hilarity and pathos mark the confluence of irony, tenderness and the stark reality of life and death. What a thrill it was for the cast the night that Allan was able to come to the show!

Now Bigger, better, brighter...
Directors take note; thanks to the intrepid souls who attended our recent basic lighting workshops, your lighting team just got bigger. If you weren’t there, you missed out on the fun of positioning lights, high atop our new mega-ladder, programming our new easy to use controller and other equally exhilarating thrills too numerous to elucidate here. For those of you who couldn’t make our first two lighting workshops, fret not. We’ll be doing it again in the future.

Please let us know what you feel about this experimental site. How can we improve? What changes would you like to see? What else would you like to see on the Theatre in the Woods site?

Today I took some time to cruise the site once again. All I can say is; fantastic! And I'd add; Great Work! And mucho kudos for setting this up and maintaining it. Compared to a static set of pages that sort of creak open when you "click here" this is waaaay better.
I especially appreciate the volunteer hours log. I'm always forgetting to put my volunteer hours on that sheet in the stair well at the Quam. Thanks so much for putting that feature on the site here.
Great work. Thanks again for bringing the TITW site to a new level.

For you visual learns, the following link will demonstrate how to set up and use Google calendars: http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/watch/ciiqhgOB In order to add to the TitW Calendar, you will need permission from those that have permission to manage contacts. Once we get up to speed you will know if you have this permission. For now, I can set things up for you. Email me at: titw.admin@gmail.com Those of you who already have permission should be able to see everyone given permission. We need to monitor this both for giving permission to everyone who needs it, and to remove someone if it is being abused. ps. I also added this video tutorial link to our Web Tools page: http://titw.wetpaint.com/page/Web+Tools

This thread was started as an offshoot to our Feedback needed thread. Please help brainstorm what you think might be appropriate for the theater to put together as a internet presence. Wiki's, blogs, social networks, virtual worlds, none of the above and more. From this we can make a questionnaire and set up a link for those that visit the main site. Invite others to this site whom you think might be interested in participating in this discussion.

As to photos, Bob (bobolsgard) has a huge archive of TiTW photos, which we could eventually put on the site. He says he has no concerns about copyrite issues on these pix, as they were intended for use by TiTW anyway, and he's never done them for money... He has a lot of headshots of people that we could add to the pages so people would recognize officers, comittee members, other behind the scenes type people (Roger has done lots also, but may have his own ideas about use of his photos on the site. ) Anything that's in Curtain Call remains fair game for the site , I would say (as editor). That goes for cropping, editing recycling and reusing them to add visual interest to the website.

Although adding or editing content is quite easy, I am finding doing certain things not all that intuitive. One way I have found that is helpful for organizing pages is to set up tables and put the content within. Another helpful tool when copying and pasting text is the line-break removal tool http://www.textfixer.com/tools/remove-line-breaks.php which helps remove formatting without manually removing each paragraph or line-break.
